Our nation's current low interest in reading has made the community outreach team at the Padang State Polytechnic feel called to do something to increase the nation's interest in reading. This community service activity was held at the Al-Hidayah Tarbiyah Islamiah Islamic Boarding School, Muara Labuh. Seeing that reading culture in this country is still low, it needs to be motivated by improving infrastructure related to this problem. The aim of this community service activity is to inspire readers to realize the importance of reading culture for the progress of an individual in a nation's society. Love of reading can ultimately create a cultural and ethical community. This nation's community has a high reading culture so that this country and nation can progress and win in this global competition. The method in this paper uses literature study and observation of activities in the author's community environment which are related to the themes in this article. Reading culture is an absolute requirement for an information society which is a characteristic of modern society. A nation can win the competition if it has people who like to read and continue to learn in this era of globalization where the development of science and technology is very fast. It can be said that science is an icon of the formation of a high, advanced and modern civilization. Because with knowledge, our nation will be able to stand equal to other nations in the international arena. Science has an important role in changing the civilization of a nation. With knowledge, new discoveries also emerge that can make human life more enjoyable, easier and more prosperous.
