Abstract

The 2023 education report indicates that students' numeracy competence at UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Belinyu is generally classified as good, with a 24.44% increase compared to the previous year. However, further investigation through an online interview with the vice principal in charge of the curriculum revealed that the algebra domain still requires improvement. Although numeracy is a fundamental skill essential for various aspects of life, students need to develop an understanding that numeracy culture can be applied in any context. This means that while algebra is the primary content, its contextual applications can vary. This community engagement activity aims to enhance students' numeracy competence through a workshop introducing numeracy problems across various contexts within algebraic content. The approach used is structured and participatory with the hope that student activity can be optimized and the application of content in various contexts can be improved. The training begins with delivering instructional material on the scope of numeracy content, followed by the introduction of numeracy problems, which students collaboratively solve in groups using Teams Game Tournament method. The activity is conducted in groups, with each group consisting of five students. The finding, the training demonstrate that algebraic numeracy content can be effectively integrated into diverse contexts. Student responses, gathered through interviews, indicate that they have indirectly applied their reasoning skills collaboratively while engaging in numeracy tasks across different contexts. From this activity, it shows an increase in students' numeracy competency in algebra content to various contexts of daily life. It is hoped that this activity will have a good impact on teachers through the methods and processes carried out so that they can be implemented and presented in classroom learning.
