Abstract

Anemia is characterized by insufficient levels of hemoglobin, with iron deficiency anemia being the most prevalent form. Educating parents can significantly raise awareness about the importance of preventing anemia in adolescents. Implementing educational programs that include practical cooking sessions exemplifies both the application and innovation introduced by the participants. In June 2024, interactive educational methods were employed by teachers and parents from SD Negeri 18 North Pontianak. The educational program featured a one-week interval between the counseling sessions and the healthy provisions competition. Evaluation results indicated a notable improvement in participants' knowledge, with a pre-post test score increase of 14.44 points and a significance level of p: 0.004 (p<0.05). The innovations in iron-rich healthy provisions were diverse, using animal protein sources in combination with foods high in vitamin C. The interactive counseling approach proved effective not only in enhancing knowledge but also in fostering creativity and innovation among participants, serving as a robust evaluation of their grasp of the educational material. Further counseling could include guidance on the proper processing of food ingredients to ensure optimal nutrient utilization.
